Michael Jordan:

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is a legend in NBA and hence acquires the first position in the list. He is the greatest basketball player in the world and none has a different opinion about this. His aerial exploits, extraordinary charisma and competitive spirit won many a hearts. He has won six championships against Karl Malone, John Stockton, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, and other Hall-of-Famers. He has also won ten scoring titles and five MVPs. He was the ultimate defender, leader and scorer. During the 1990s, every aspiring basketball player wore his signature shoes and jersey and the iconic team of basketball was undisputedly the Chicago Bulls.

Bill Russell:

Ranking no.2, Bill Russell is a great player who has played with some of the best players like Bill Sharman, Bob Cousy and Tommy Heinsohn. He played in the city of Boston and at that time it was difficult to be an African-American to play in the city. He was a great rebounder and defender. He is one of the oldest players and is still active in the game. He has won eleven championships in 13 seasons, 11 NBA titles, Olympic Gold and 5 MVP awards.

Magic Johnson:

Magic Johnson is a retired professional basketball player and presently he is the president of basketball operations of the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the winner of 3 MVP awards, NCAA title, 5 NBA titles and High School title. He was included nine times in all-NBA first team. His passing ability was widely talked about and the art became a fashion in NBA. During the 1980s, he competed with one of the best players, Larry Bird. He would have been the best of this era if it was not shared by Larry.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is considered as NBA’s all-time leading scorer. He is a retired professional basketball player who comes fourth in the list. He played for almost 20 years in the NBA and won 6 MVP awards, 6 NBA titles and is still the owner of all-time scoring record. He played 20 seasons in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks. In the 1970s, he was regarded as the best player in the league. Larry Bird:

Larry Bird was 12-time NBA All-Star and was considered as the league’s Most Valuable Player three times. He won an Olympic Gold, 3 MVP awards and 3 NBA titles. His professional career was fully dedicated to Boston and he won three NBA championships. He was the most entertaining player in the 80s and the most clutch player in history along with being a great shooter. His rivalry against Magic Johnson was greatly discussed in national television.

LeBron James:

LeBron is a professional basketball player of America who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. Though he was a former dunker, he is now a phenomenal defender and jump shooter. He has won 4 MVP awards, 3 NBA championships, 2 Olympic Gold medals, 3 NBA Finals MVP Awards, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award and an NBA scoring title. Wilt Chamberlain:

Wilt Chamberlain was an American basketball player who was considered as the most dominant player of the league. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA. He has 11 rebounding titles, a 100-point game, 4 MVP awards and 7 scoring titles to his name. He is one of the top scorers in NBA Playoffs. He always played the centre position and was a great player of his time. He had a successful career in spite of the professional losses he had to face.

Tim Duncan:

Tim Duncan, who ranks eighth in the list, has a playing style which is simple and down to earth. During the entire 19 years of his career, he played with the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. He is a defender and leader from the very beginning and also the greatest power forward in the history of basketball. He is a 15 times NBA All-Star.

Shaquille O’Neal:

Nicknamed Shaq, Shaquille made 15 All-Star teams and came fifth on the league’s career scoring list. He is a former basketball player of America and sports analyst on the television program Inside the NBA. He played for 6 teams during his career of 19 years and was one of the heaviest players of the time. His strength and size was very noticeable and scared defences. He achieved one MVP award and 2 scoring titles in his career. He led the Lakers to 3 titles.

Hakeem Olajuwon:

Hakeem is a Nigerian-American former basketball player who played the centre position in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets. He was considered as the smoothest big man of the league. On the offensive end, he could do anything he wanted and blocked shots at a high rate. He was a NBA MVP, three-time NBA blocks champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP. He is known for his NBA record for blocks at 3830. He is considered as one of the greatest centres ever to play the game.
