The year 2017 has been great for PC games. Many excellent games have come up across different genres this year. Every month dozens of pc games have released.  Most of them are good but a few of them are exceptional. Here is the list of the top 10 pc games so far for the year 2017.


Utopia is the first major expansion that the makers of Stellaris, the Paradox Development Studio, have brought to the game. This version was released on 6 April 2017.  The critics have highly appreciated this version of the game. This has turned out to be a highly commended strategy and science fiction game. Utopia has brought in new tools that you can use to build your cosmic empire in the chosen galaxy. If you wish to steal all the energy from the sun and freeze the planets that rely on the sun’s energy, then this is the game for you. There are many changes in the game from before, including the tool to build Dyson spheres and many more mega structures. Habitat stations, ascension benefits, indoctrination, advanced slavery and advanced governments are a few of the modifications that the makers have made to Stellaris.

2.Resident Evil 7

This is a survival horror game that is from the Resident Evil series. The developers and publishers, Capcom, released this version in January 2017. It has received excellent reviews with appreciation for the graphics, gameplay and design. The story of this version, however, has deviated from the movie styling. It is scarier and has better adventure. The player, here, is in control of the lead from a first person’s viewpoint. This version of Resident Evil has reclaimed the horror of the very first movie.

3.Battle Brothers

Battle Brothers is a tactical role-playing game in which you can lead a mercenary company. The story revolves around a rough, medieval age fantasy world. You can prepare your teams for a fight against any other group of your choice. You even get to train and adorn your men for the contract you are willing to take. The critics highly acclaimed and appreciated this game despite it being crude and gory.

4.Thimbleweed Park:

This point and click adventure game is developed by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. This game was released on March 30, 2017. Here you play from a third person’s viewpoint and is similar to the old graphic adventure games. Thimbleweed Park takes you back to the initial days of graphic games. The makers had earlier created a storm with their games like Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. This game is a spiritual successor to these classic games. It is fun and challenging at the same time.

5.Rain World

This survival platform video game has a complete different approach in comparison to the other popular games. It is gloomy and taxing. If you are relentless enough, then the experience of exploring the remote areas of Rain World will be unforgettable. Here the main threat to your survival, apart from the hunters and the harsh environment, is rain. The developers of this game, Videocult, urge to give you the experience of a rat living on the tracks. This game, released in March 2017, received appreciation from the critics especially for its design and animation. However, the difficulty level is brutal.

6.Nier: Automata

This Japanese, action role-playing game was released worldwide in March 2017. It is a sequel to Nier, which was released in 2010. The plot is a war in 11945 AD between powerful machines and surviving humans. The proxy war is taking place between the human remnants on the moon and the powerful machines of the alien invaders. Humans have sent the austere androids to reclaim their planet. Nier Automata has received good reviews and praises for its depressive tone. This game has the capability to surprise you at any given point and leaves you reassessing your entire strategy.

7.The Elder Scrolls: Legends

This collectible card video game, part of the Elder Scroll series, was released in March 2017.  Dire Wolf Digital developed it and Bethesda Softworks published this game. It involves two opponents and the turn-based match between them. Although the field of computer card games is crowded, The Elder Scrolls Legends stands out as it draws from the rich heritage of the Elder Scroll series. They have based the cards on the characters from the series and blended in bits from Hearthstone and Magic the gathering. The critics have appreciated the modes and mechanics of the game.

8.Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — A Criminal Past

This is the second part of the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This game has done very well in terms of a catchy narrative, which is self-contained. The levels are intriguing and keep your attention for as long as six to seven hours. The prison is the playground for the stealth action here. They have designed the levels very well and have refreshed Deux Ex by mixing up things with innovative dynamics. Critics have appreciated the excellent narrative, interesting characters and the challenging gameplay.

9.Torment: Tides of Numenera

InExile Entertainment has developed this role-playing game and released it in February 2017. As the name suggests, the plot is set in Numenera – a fantasy campaign. It has taken the whole experience of role-playing back to its roots.  The theme is set a billion years in the future, where the line between fiction and fantasy is almost non-existent. The critics have said the game pays its dividends as it gets you reflecting on your thoughts and thirsting for more.

10.Sniper Elite 4

Rebellion Developments are the developers of this third person tactical shooting game and released it on 14 February 2017. Sniper Elite 4 has continued the trend of the voyeuristic nature of the sniper games, Sniper Elite 3 in particular. Although the action mechanism is simple, the game is thoroughly enjoyable. The maps, objectives and design are excellent and this series is living up to its potential.
